Zoinks - last trip night writing from Wall, New Jersey, about 10 miles south of one of the greatest places on Earth, Red Bank. Why is the Red Bank the greatest place on Earth??
Not only is Red Bank home to Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, but also to the origin of some of the greatest movies of all time spawned around these characters, and their creator, Kevin Smith. Kevin Smith is one of my all time favorite directors, so to go into a comic book shop based around his works was freaking awesome! It turns out he had just been in MONDAY, I missed him by 4 days. Its okay, it was still pretty sweet. Inside they had most the major props from the movies, including Smith's coat, Loki/Bartleby's armor, Mooby, Buddy Christ
as well as a Bluntman and Chronic wax model, though Kevin Smith's expression looked kind of creepy in it.
The whole place was just awsome, and the guy working there, "Mike" was pretty cool as well, we talked a bit about random things, and then I spent ungodly amounts of money to get my Kevin Smith fix. Here is the entire collection:
Starting upper left - Dogma Series Inaction Figure: Jay, Silent Bob, Bartleby, Loki, Golgathan, A signed copy of "An Evening with Kevin Smith"
Then lower left, Signed copies of both Walt Flannigan (Fanboy) and Steve-Dave inaction figures
Mallrats Series: Jay, Silent Bob, Willam, Brodie (Holding a copy of Bluntman and Chronic) and Rene. In the middle I have a collection of 10 Clerks series pins.
Plus I have my Clerks series back in my office, now i have all 3 series, its awesome! The only thing I don't have are the B&W versions of the Clerks series, and the dixie cup version of Brodie. There may be some additional Silent Bob ones too, not sure, I have to check. Anyway, I'm pretty psyched, I can't wait to setup everything in my office.
Well, Red Bank aside, just driving up 95 today, passed through Washington DC which was a bit confusing, 295, 395, 495, and 95 intersect each other in about 50 different ways.
Last day in a hotel, and unfortunately its one of the worse ones. But, thats okay, just one more night and then I'm HOME tomorrow, can't wait to see my cats and my place. One last update tomorrow with some closing words, its been quite a trip!
